Rumination

Bifurcated work-work balance. Type A work vs. Type B work.

Type A work is the work that occurs post-fall, outside the garden, when God cursed men to work the ground. See Gen. 3:17-20. Type B work is the work that occurred in the garden, before being banished from the garden. It's the kind of "work" we enjoy doing, that we were created to do; it's the kind of work that Mark Twain had in mind when he said, "“Find a job you enjoy doing, and you will never have to work a day in your life.” We all have to do Type A work. We all want to do Type B work.

Reflection

A consistent pattern in my life is performing Type A work and Type B work in tandem. I've never been exclusively in Type A work. I always have Type B projects running in the background. I'm not sure if this "good" or "best" or even "efficient" but it's a pattern nonetheless.
